switch-off of the 2G & 3G mobile networks

Telecoms operators are gradually phasing out 2G and 3G networks in Europe.

This deactivation, initiated in 2024, will continue until 2029, according to a timetable specific to each operator, country by country. This situation will have an impact on the operation of widely used equipment and products (e.g. remote monitoring systems, lifts, home medical devices, etc.).

From this date onwards, the loss of the 3G network will render the eCall feature inoperable in geographical areas where neither 2G nor 3G is available. It will remain operational in countries and geographical areas where a 2G or 3G network is still active. 

The SOS button on the vehicle’s overhead console can be used to check the status of the eCall system. For further information, please refer to your vehicle owner’s manual. 

Please note: driving the vehicle is not affected by the shutdown of the 2G or 3G networks. The vehicle remains fully compliant with its certification. 

Renault Group continues to assess the impact of the 2G and 3G shutdown on a model-by-model and country-by-country basis, with a view to identifying whether alternatives are possible.

Can the affected vehicles remain in circulation after the 2G and 3G networks are switched off?
Yes. Manufactured and approved in accordance with the regulations in force at the time of their sale, the vehicles can stay on the road after the 2G and 3G networks are switched off.      
What is the eCall service?
The emergency call service (or "eCall") is an onboard service present in all M1 (Passenger Cars) and N1 (Light Commercial Vehicles) vehicles that have received "New Type" approval in Europe since March 31, 2018. In the event of an accident in which an airbag is deployed, the vehicle automatically transmits a call to the emergency services (European emergency number 112). It can also be activated manually. 
Which Dacia vehicles are equipped with the eCall feature?
All Dacia vehicles that have received new type approval since 31 March 2018 are equipped with an eCall system. To find out whether a vehicle is equipped with one, simply check the overhead console between the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat: if there is an “SOS” button, the vehicle has the eCall feature.
