Fiona Coghlan, the woman that led the Irish Women’s Rugby team to an historic Women's Grand Slam in 2013, has today been announced as the first brand ambassador for Dacia.
Fiona picked up the keys to her new Duster today and said we’re still in good contention for the Six Nations Championship for both the men’s and women’s teams.
Fiona is convinced that the boys and women in green can pull it off: “The women's team will know exactly what they have to do before the start of the game, however the men must agonizingly wait on the result of the later game. It is important for both teams to focus on their own game and produce the type of rugby they are capable of playing with world class players then we will be putting ourselves in a very good position”.
The IRFU has also announced that it is bidding for the 2017 Women's World Cup and Fiona will play an important ambassador role on helping to bring the tournament to Ireland.
“This would be a fantastic vote of confidence in women’s rugby in Ireland and abroad. It would be very exciting time to showcase Ireland on the World stage. I have no doubt the Irish public would embrace this event and show that we can successfully host these major tournaments”
The influential player who was also at the helm of the women’s team when they sealed the historic victory over New Zealand during the 2014 World Cup was on winning form as always and enjoyed a kick around with Dacia Country Operations Manager, Paddy Magee and Marketing Manager, Lynne Boucher.
Aside from her rugby accolades, the maths and PE teacher from Clontarf is the perfect fit for the brand which encourages potential buyers to ‘Do the Maths’ to see how shockingly affordable their new car can be!
Dacia Ireland’s Fastest Growing Car Brand, which will celebrate its 3rd birthday this summer, has taken the Irish motor market by storm. With over 5,000 Dacias sold to date the brand is going from strength to strength. The Dacia Duster which has been given a facelift for 2015 is the perfect car for the former Ireland Captain who travels around the country a lot for work and rugby duties.
Patrick Magee, Country Operations Manager, Dacia; “We are delighted to have Fiona on board as our first Dacia ambassador. She is a great example of hard work, perseverance and training and has become an icon for women’s rugby and has really helped to increase the awareness of the game in Ireland. We wish her safe and enjoyable driving in her new Dacia Duster”.
