What is LPG?

Dacia ECO-G - simple technology

LPG in detail

LPG stands for Liquified Petroleum Gas and is produced when butane and propane are pressurised in order to form a liquid, reducing its volume for easier transport and use.

LPG is free of both benzene and lead, which is harmful to the environment and our health. It is non-toxic, colourless and odourless. Due to its liquid state, it does not require a high-pressure tank (between 5 and 30 bar). So, this type of fuel is perfectly safe!

Your questions on buying an LPG vehicle

Dacia ECO-G - safe technology

Is LPG dangerous? Who does the conversion?

The Dacia LPG engine is equipped with all the necessary and mandatory safety features to ensure your safety in accordance with the 2001 regulation (R67-01): non-return valve, 80% stop-fill device, excess flow valve, solenoid valve and pressure safety valve. Furthermore, LPG tanks in our vehicles are now six times more resilient than those from previous generations.

We take care of the conversion in the plant. That way, you receive the same warranty level as with our combustion vehicles (both the vehicle and the conversion) and the same Dacia industry expertise.

Can I access underground car parks with my LPG vehicle?

Yes, and without restrictions! Our Dacia LPG engines comply with the 2001 international regulation (R67-01), which requires all LPG vehicles to be equipped with a pressure safety valve. This way, you can access all car parks, without restrictions.

Does an LPG vehicle have less boot space?

No, not at all! Actually, the tank is located in the space typically reserved for the spare wheel, without reducing available boot volume. The interior space and modular layout of our vehicle range are unaffected. As an added bonus, an original tyre repair kit is available in all Dacia LPG vehicles.

Does LPG affect the engine’s life span?

Yes. It extends it! The LPG dual-fuel engine system has an impact on your engine’s life span. Its cleaner combustion lets engine oil maintain its properties longer, and its octane rating helps reduce vibrations.

Your questions on using LPG

 Dacia ECO-G - limitless mobility

Are there traffic restrictions when driving an LPG?

Sometimes, so we recommend we check with your local council.

With its two separate fuel tanks, your Dacia LPG vehicle offers you ample driving range. Easily travel over 1,287 kilometres enabling you total freedom to explore!

LPG service station: where can you fill up?

Fill up your LPG tank at your usual service station! In Europe, one in four service stations offers LPG. To plan your journeys, apps are available that locate service stations with LPG pumps. Can’t find an LPG pump? Don't panic! Your vehicle can also run on petrol alone.

Does the LPG tank need to be checked regularly?

Don’t worry; we take care of everything! Servicing your LPG car is no different from servicing a petrol vehicle.

Let’s do the maths. Have your vehicle serviced every 19,312 kilometres or once a year. Additional servicing is required for the LPG valves every 119,091 kilometres.

Is LPG more eco-friendly?

It sure is! Although consumption is about 25% higher with LPG compared to petrol, LPG emits less CO2 than petrol and thus has a smaller carbon footprint.
